Wii Are The Champions

Rock BandNow, normally my geekdom is limited to comic books, robots, ninjas and maybe some sci-fi material such as The 4400 or Quantum Leap. I’m not much into video games, mainly for three reasons: 1. I don’t own a TV. 2. I don’t own a gaming system. 3. Reading comic books, playing with robots, training to be a ninja and watching DVD anthologies takes up a lot of time.

However, I know many of you do enjoy the virtual world of gaming, and especially that phenom of phenoms, Rock Band. Well, for you Nintendo-loving kids out there who were dissed by MTV Games, Harmonix and EA when they released Rock Band only for Xbox back around Christmas, you can stop your terrorizing of Harmonix’s office: Rock Band for Wii is coming to the United States and Canada on June 22.

Retail price for the Wii edition of the best-selling rock group simulation game is $169.99. But surely it will sell out the first day and some of you will be left buying it on eBay for $300 just so you don’t get left out in the cold.

I will say, I’ve actually played Rock Band, and to be honest, I enjoyed doing so. I can see how it would be addictive, as it has been to my friend Jason. Then again, as I have no means to play it regularly, I’m safe from that particular addiction.

Oh, and perhaps you folks will recall my classic “review” of the game from back in November 2007:
