Yes, that is Frank Miller in the photo above, looking pleasantly amused by the birthday cake presented to him at CatHouse last night. I’m still waiting on more details of the evening, but you can click here to see a gallery of photos from the party, including Rosario Dawson and Jamie King. (UPDATE: Full story now available here.)
Now I have a question for any Marvel Comics / Thor fans out there: When did villain the Wrecker come back to life? Anyone? I just finished reading New Avengers Annual No. 2, and he’s there with the Wrecking Crew attacking the heroes in Doctor Strange’s house. But last I saw him, he was killed by Loki waaaaaaay back in, I believe, issue 431 or 432 of the original Thor series.
I checked Wikipedia, but it completely glosses over that ever happening. WTF? Please tell me someone out there has an explanation. Leave a comment if you can solve this mystery. It’s bad enough I’m seeing Carol Danvers back as Ms. Marvel when last time I saw her in a comic she was still Binary and was off somewhere in space with the Starjammers or something. Man, I hate coming to the show late.
Oh, and I picked up the first post-”Messiah CompleX” issue of Uncanny X-Men yesterday as well. Good stuff. Loved the scene where Emma illustrates how Scott’s tactician mind works as he watches a couple dinosaurs duke it out in the Savage Land. And the San Francisco ending? This should be good. I won’t spoil it for anyone who hasn’t read it yet, but it’s groovy, man.
