Pop! Goes the Icon

It’s very rare when my personal interests intersect my professional ones, as my full-time job — running the Las Vegas “industry” blog DailyFiasco.com — involves celebrities, fine dining and nightclubs, things I don’t care much for usually. It’s even rarer when a post I write for Fiasco would be of interest to you sequential-art-loving people over here on Pop! Goes the Icon. But, that day has finally come.

Jamie King — who portrayed Goldie in Sin City — is throwing a surprise birthday bash for Frank Miller, who turned 51 a few weeks back, at CatHouse inside the Luxor Las Vegas. Read more about it here:

So weird. Frank Miller in a popular Vegas nightspot? It just is an odd fit. But I know it’s a place King frequents (I was sitting at a table next to her and Adrien Brody a few months ago there), so maybe it will make sense. And the place is modeled after European bordellos, so the quirkiness may be a good setting for the brooding comic creator to celebrate his  birthday at. Maybe.
