So after difficultly digesting Amazing Spider-Man’s “One More Day” finale Friday night, I eventually moved on the read chapters six and nine of “Messiah CompleX,” and I have to say … I’m intrigued. Hooked almost. I’ll definitely finish out the rest of this crossover, and who knows, maybe I’ll begin to regularly pick up one of these X-books?
I’m not going to go into the plot or any of that stuff, because a million other comic blogs have already covered the details. But I will say the closing panel of X-Men No. 206, with Bishop standing over the mutant baby, his gun aimed for the child after just taking out Cable (by shooting him in the back, that coward!) — THAT’S a cliffhanger. That’s good storytelling. Bring it on, X-books. I’ll hang for a while. Just keep that pablum Spider-crap away from me.
Oh, on a totally unrelated note, I watched Richard Donner’s cut of Superman II this weekend. And I don’t care what anyone says: It sucks. The original sucked. I’ve decided all the Superman movies, taken out of the context of their respective eras, sucked. So there.

you should pick up the Astonishing X-Men books. It’s great storytelling, the only problem is the fact without doing a little digging around, you can’t really figure out where it is in continuity.
whoa! whoa! Whoa…whoa. While I agree that Richard Donner’s Superman II was balls ugly, I loved the original cut, along with the first one, and I really loved Superman Returns too. I’m too scared to see the 3rd and 4th. But ah well. Different strokes.

Actually, I might have to go back and watch Superman I, it has been a long time, but I’m tainted now. Superman 3 and 4 were scary. Avoid at all costs. Never saw Singer’s Superman Returns, out of total disinterest. Maybe I’ll recant just so I can judge based on first knowledge.
Isn’t Joss Whedon writing Astonishing?

Yeah, Whedon is currently writing Astonighing. But he’s finishing up his run soon. He has one issue left, plus a Giant Size, then Warren Ellis(!) is taking over.
Yeah, I might never see them, but I DO own them. When Superman Returns came out in late 2006, I bought the ultimate collection with all five movies, a lot of special features. I thought Superman I, II, Returns, and “Look Up In The Sky! The Amazing Story Of Superman” were worth my money.
I’d really recommend renting the doc, it’s…pardon the pun…Super interesting.
P.S., happy new year!

I’ve been loving Messiah Complex so far. They are definitely dragging it out (it could easily be 9 parts) but it’s good a read and I love the idea of Bishop’s future vs. Cable’s future.

Thanks for stopping by, Sean. I’m going to try to free up some time to read your latest (last?) “100 things” post.
