I didn’t actually mean to take a few days off. I was just overwhelmed with activities over the last week–some holiday-related, others not so much–that I haven’t had time to do much of anything, let alone blather to the world with my views on comic books, pop culture and other nonsense.
I’m not big on Christmas. I like it in theory and in memory from childhood, but I don’t do anything particularly traditional. For me, it’s mostly just another short stretch of time when I don’t have to report to my office. But I do try to make sure others are taken care of by way of cards and gifts. Sadly, my financial adviser cut down my gift budget, so most of my friends and loved ones had to settle for cards, postcards and e-cards.
One thing that really makes me uncomfortable is receiving gifts. I appreciate the gesture and sentiment, but I come built-in with some measure of guilt, so receiving unsolicited gifts just compounds that. This year, my holiday booty was less guilt-inducing than usual, but still filled with awesomeness from people who obviously know me pretty well.
But I’ll stop typing now and instead let you feast on two-odd minutes of video sharing more about Christmas 2007…
The final chapter of Spider-Man arc “One More Day” comes out on Friday in Amazing Spider-Man. Expect to hear from me by then, if not sooner. Merry Christmas, you heathens!
